Away with the Evil Eye

This play features seven characters: Naser, Sanaz, Mr. Bakhtiarbeigi, Solmaz, Aghajallal, Leila, and Borzu. It tells the story of several men who are friends, each speaking of a lost friend whose signs appear similar to one another. However, they are so absorbed in their own reflections that they fail to realize this. On the other hand, a woman named Lilanam, who struggles to keep herself steady and currently operates a beauty salon despite numerous difficulties, embodies all the signs of the lost friends of these men. She is set to get married tonight but experiences particular anxiety and distress, feeling that there are moments in her life when she becomes someone other than herself and witnesses untold and unseen things that resemble illusions. Leila prepares with this unrest and waits at the wedding table for the groom’s arrival.
