More than four decades have passed since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. During this period, many changes have occurred in the political structure and actors of the country, and the field of welfare and social policy has not been exempt from these changes; over the years, policy approaches have oscillated from leftism to rightism. With this level of diversity and multiplicity, or confusion and disorder, can we still speak of a governing logic in the field of social policy and the formation of these policies? The author in ‘Anti-Social System’ believes such a logic exists and seeks, through a historical study, to construct the geometry of the social policy field in post-revolutionary Iran and analyze the logic behind the formulation of social policies during this period. The book addresses many questions regarding the architecture of the field: who are the active actors in power relations? Which organizations have been more successful in supporting their interests? And which forces have influenced the formulation or obstruction of policies? In short, ‘Anti-Social System’ is an exploratory effort to draw an initial map of the social policy field in post-revolutionary Iran.
