An Inside Look at the Iranian Leftist Movement (Conversation with Mahdi Khanbaba Tehrani)

This book is the final volume of Hamid Shaukat’s interviews with the leaders of the Revolutionary Organization of the Tudeh Party of Iran abroad. Previously published volumes contain his conversations with Mahdi Khanbaba Tehrani, Iraj Kashkuli, and Kurosh Lashai. Mohsen Rezvani (born August 6, 1937) is an Iranian Marxist political activist and the secretary of the Confederation of Iranian Students Abroad during the 1960s. He is one of the founders of the Revolutionary Organization of the Tudeh Party of Iran and the Laborers’ Party of Iran. He currently lives in Toronto, Canada. Rezvani was a founding member of the Revolutionary Organization of the Tudeh Party of Iran and the first secretary of the Laborers’ Party, established in Tehran after the Islamic Revolution. He played a significant role in the split within the Tudeh Party and met with the party’s leaders in East Berlin, including Nour al-Din Kianuri and Abdolsamad Kambakhsh. Following the failed assassination attempt on the Shah in April 1964, which led to the arrest of the Nikkhah group, Rezvani went into hiding due to his close association with Nikkhah and spent some time in Algeria, where he became acquainted with Fereydoun Keshavarz, a former member of the Tudeh Party’s central committee. He was elected to the leadership of the Revolutionary Organization at its first congress held in December 1964 in Albania and later traveled to the People’s Republic of China and Cuba to receive theoretical and military training.
