America and the Middle East

After the September 11, 2001 incident and following changes in the United States’ national security strategy, the country’s Middle East policy underwent extensive changes. Washington, based on the logic of the international fight against terrorism, preemptive war, and preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and nuclear arms, in addition to the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, sought the modernization and development of the Middle East region. Within this strategy, the Greater Middle East plan emphasizing political, economic, and cultural reforms was placed on the agenda of the country’s foreign policy. The authors of this collection have examined the components of the new U.S. strategy along with its difficulties, challenges, and consequences in various articles.
