A Concise History of Iran

It is obligatory for every Iranian to have at least a brief knowledge of the ancient history of this land because, as a great person once said, history can repeat itself over and over again. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to read history and strive to prevent the recurrence of the unfortunate and deadly events that have befallen the people of our land throughout history, and to make what has been a source of pride and progress the foundation of future movements and transformations. Hassan Naraghi (born in May 1944 in Kashan) is an Iranian researcher best known for his non-academic works in sociology. In his book “A Summary of the History of Iran,” the author provides an opportunity to gain a general overview of Iran’s history, from the formation of the Aryan dynasties to the end of the Pahlavi regime, in a brief and appropriate amount of time. Historical events, the beginning and end of a dynasty or period, the most prominent rulers, and their most important actions are among the topics of each chapter of the book. This summary, in itself, is useful and exciting for the reader, helping to acquire a comprehensive and general understanding of this turbulent history without the need to delve into voluminous historical books. However, after finishing this book, more extensive and detailed studies can be enlightening and provide deeper insights for the interested reader.
