Manouchehr Anvar

Manouchehr Anvar is a multifaceted Iranian artist whose work spans directing, writing, editing, translating, and broadcasting. Educated at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in England, he began his artistic journey in London as a writer, actor, and broadcaster at BBC Persian Radio. Upon returning to Iran, he pioneered editorial work at Franklin Publishing and later became renowned for his film and theatrical contributions, notably the cinematic adaptation of Bijan Mofid’s celebrated play, ‘The City of Tales.’ Anvar’s literary endeavors reveal a deep engagement with Persian culture and the arts, reflected in his translations of classic European drama and literary works and his writings that explore the intersections of language, poetry, and tradition.
