Hamid Kashmirshikan

Dr. Hamid Kashmirshikan holds a PhD in Contemporary Art History from SOAS, University of London, and completed two postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Oxford under the British Academy. He has been a researcher and visiting professor at the University of London, as well as a visiting faculty member in Oxford’s Department of Art History. His academic focus centers on twentieth and twenty-first century Iranian and Middle Eastern art, exploring contemporary events and their impact on artistic practices, emerging patterns in Islamic contemporary art, and the intersections of modernity, specificity, and socio-political contexts with visual expressions and identity politics. Dr. Kashmirshikan has organized numerous international conferences on contemporary Iranian and Middle Eastern art and contributed extensively as an art historian and critic through publications and presentations in both English and Persian. Since 2013, he has been affiliated with the Art Research Institute, where he currently serves as Deputy Research Director.
